My Favorite Christmas Carol & My Wish For 2012

Would that we all take these lyrics to heart ~ as individuals, as a community, as a country, and as a world.  Wishing all of you a very merry and joy filled Christmas and hoping that we all remember to share our bounty with those less fortunate.  Happy Holidays!

Grown Up Christmas List
Do you remember me?  I sat upon your knee;
I wrote to you with childhood fantasies.
Well, I'm all grown-up now, And still need help somehow,
I'm not a child, But my heart still can dream.
So here's my lifelong wish, My grown-up Christmas list.
Not for myself, But for a world in need.
No more lives torn apart, That wars would never start,
And time would heal all hearts.
And everyone would have a friend, And right would always win,
And love would never end.
This is my grown-up Christmas list.

As children we believed, The grandest sight to see
Was something lovely, Wrapped beneath the tree
Well heaven surely knows, That packages and bows
Can never heal a hurting human soul.
No more lives torn apart, That wars would never start,
And time would heal all hearts.
And everyone would have a friend, And right would always win,
And love would never end.
This is my grown-up Christmas list.

What is this illusion called the innocence of youth?
Maybe only in our blind belief can we ever find the truth.
And then there would be
No more lives torn apart, That wars would never start,
And time would heal all hearts.
And everyone would have a friend, And right would always win,
And love would never end.
This is my grown-up Christmas list.
This is my only wish
This is my grown-up Christmas list.

Merry Christmas! Saturday Night Genealogy Fun

Just wanted to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Today's Genea-Musings prompt is to share what gift I received for Christmas that is my favorite for genealogy purposes.  Hope Santa was good to you ~ he was certainly good to me.

A big thank you to my Parents and my Aunt for their thoughtful Christmas cards and cash gifts!  I will be attending the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy in January 2011 thanks to the generosity of my family.  I am signed up for the Irish Records & Research course and hopefully will be able to get some great tips for finding those Irish ancestors and finally making that "leap across the pond."  We are quite sure of our County Carlow connections but still have a great deal of work to do on the County Cork and County Kerry connections.  I am looking forward to lots of insights and moments of genealogy serendipity in 2011.

Let's all pray for peace on earth &
goodwill to all men, women and children on this planet we all share ~
